Description

According to a recent Gallup poll, the percentage of U.S. adults who self-identify as LGBTQ+ has doubled since 2012, rising to 7.1%. SAGE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older people, found that 51% of LGBTQ+ elders are worried they won’t have enough money as they age, compared to 36% of the general population. This elevated level of financial insecurity can be attributed to several factors, including public health epidemics and decades of discrimination. In this webinar, CFP Board Ambassador, Laura J. LaTourette, CFP®, will dive into recent LGBTQ+ retirement trends, the impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis as well as other factors on retirement, and the retirement concerns facing low- to moderate-income LGBTQ+ elders. By the end of the webinar, CFP® professional volunteers will learn how to become an ally and advocate for their LGBTQ+ clients during and beyond pro bono engagements.
