This interactive train-the-trainer webinar will equip CFP® professionals, AFC® professionals, financial counselors, coaches, and nonprofit practitioners with the skills to effectively develop, customize, and facilitate engaging financial education sessions using the Money Smart curriculum. Developed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Money Smart for Adults curriculum is a free, research-informed financial education program designed to help individuals build financial knowledge, confidence, and long-term financial capability.
Participants will explore the curriculum’s resources, learn evidence-based facilitation techniques, and discover practical strategies for delivering financial education that complements pro bono financial planning and coaching. Whether leading workshops in community organizations or preparing clients for one-on-one financial guidance, attendees will leave ready to create meaningful learning experiences that expand access to trusted financial education.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Navigate the Money Smart for Adults instructor guides, participant materials, and presentation resources to confidently plan and deliver financial education workshops.
- Evaluate the curriculum’s core modules and select content that aligns with the needs of specific audiences and community-based financial capability programs.
- Apply effective adult learning and facilitation techniques—including discussion-based learning, case scenarios, and skills practice—to increase participant engagement and knowledge retention.
- Identify strategies for integrating financial education with financial coaching and pro bono financial planning to help individuals build confidence and take meaningful financial action.
